Wine We Drink: Bethany Vineyards – pinot noir – 2002

Bethany_pinot_wine
Cracked open a bottle of bethany vineyards 2002 pinot noir ($18.00) that we picked up the previous time we visited michele last night for a drink aside the bland indian food ordered from down the street. big chocolate and high tannins at first sip…i dumped it into our decanter for about a half an hour which was just about right. Liz and I weren’t that impressed at first. It had lost much of its fruit but it still was a bit cloying. Day two: took it out of the fridge (open all day exposed to the elements) let it warm up a bit and took another sip – smooth and still with a bit of chocolate and spice. nice work walt!

Sorry about the crappy photo – Jay

“I just don’t see Big Wine allowing labels on wine reading something like this: This wine was dealcoholized by reverse osmosis and smoothed out with micro-oxygenation. Ingredients: Water, alcohol, grapes, chestnut tannin, oak extract, oak dust, genetically modified yeast, urea, enzymes, grape juice, tartaric acid, bentonite, and Velcorin.” – Alice Feiring, The Battle for Wine and Love or How I Saved the World from Parkerization
